Aqua Products ABJR Aquabot In Ground

The little 'bot works like a charm. We had a hot mess in our pool, lots of leaves (wind storm) and sudden algae bloom. In conjunction with chemicals and filtration, we ran the bot twice a day for about 3 hours because it was too cloudy to vacuum the regular way. I also bought a back up filter bag, so I could clean one, while the other was working. The bot is amazing, and by the time the water was clear, the bottom was clean.

Be prepared that even when you run this in a clean pool, any tiny dust that is too small for the filter bag to capture will blow up into your pool as the bot pushes water out. To deal with this, I use a sequence of running the bot, then running the filter for a bit afterwards to capture that fine cloud. Overall, running the filter far less than without the bot, and I feel the pool is cleaner. We'll see how it does when the heavy swim season arrives. I promise an update.

  1. This Aquabot Junior pool cleaner is really a true pool cleaner - it cleans the bottom, the walls, and even the steps. It doesn't get hung up in corners or anywhere else in your pool. The filter bag will hold everything from bobby pins, leaves, bugs, algae, and sand - and other undesirable disgusting stuff.

Just put it in the pool plug it in and forget it!

The only negative comment is that cleaning the filter bag can be somewhat disgusting since the unit picks up just about everything. I turn mine inside out, shake out what I can, and then put the bag on a flat surface and the use a hose to spray away the remainder. This can take a while but remember what you are washing away is what other pool cleaners simply blow back into your pool.

The Aquabot Jr. Wall Scrubber Robotic Pool Cleaner pool cleaner cleans so well I no longer have had to vacuum the pool. I'm somewhat handicapped and this thing is the next best thing since the battery powered scooter!

The only problem I've had is finding the correct filter bag replacement - I don't need one but I like to keep a spare handy.

My other pool cleaner (well known brand, highly touted, expensive, and overrated) is in my storage room and about to go on Craigslist.

Other than a very satisfied user, I'm in no way associated with the manufacturer or any company that sells this product.

  3. I have cared for my pool the cheap way for 12 years (no service company). I have intermittently used a free creepy crawler or a polaris with fair results and lots of messing with/untalnging those cleaners. So I had decided this year I was going to treat myself.

My dad had an aquabot for 5 or 6 years, so I was familiar with the product. I favored the junior model as it seemed less of everything: less cost, less features to break and less weight. (Junior is about half the weight of the regular aquabot).

My pool is 18x32 with steps and AQJ cleans it 95% perfectly. I do have to hit the steps and a couple of tight corners, but overall my brush time is 10% of what it was, and I will never net or vacuum again. My filter time is down by about 1/3. I am hopeful that backwashing will be decreased as well. I run junior every three or four days as needed. I do wish I had bought a second bag at the time so I could just rotate them.

The vendor was "in the swim" and product arrived about 48 hours after i ordered it. For the price I am very pleased with aquabot junior.
